What to do if attacked. Strike vital areas repeatedly during an attack! Simple self-defense tips could save your life, please take a few minutes to read them and then put them into practice when necessary. You never know when you might be the victim of attack, hopeful never, but if you are, you must have a plan of action, and these simple self-defense tips could possibly prevent an attack happening in the first place.

Simple self-defense tips

Strike vital areas repeatedly – If you are being physically attacked poke at the eyes, strike hard to the throat with your fist use the palm of your hand to strike up and into the nose as hard as you can. Kick to the knee or use your knee to strike the groin as hard as you can. You must attack with multiple blows until you can get away. Do not stop striking to vital points with hands, knees, elbows etc.

Do not hand your wallet over, throw it – If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it as far away from you as possible. Chances are that the robber is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than in you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. then you RUN LIKE CRAZY in the Opposite direction!

kick out the back taillights – If you are ever thrown into the trunk of an older car, kick out the back taillights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives. In newer cars, look for the glow-in-the-dark trunk release tabs incorporated into many newer vehicles. Back seats of many recent models fold down to accommodate the transport of larger items, so going deep into the trunk and pushing on the rear of the back seats (feeling about for knobs or levers to unlatch folding seats if necessary) might create an opening large enough for you to escape from a trunk.

Don’t sit in your car updated the checkbook – Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

Getting into your car in a parking lot – Be aware, look around you, look into your car at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door as a caution. Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If someone is standing around near your car or sitting alone in the seat nearest your car and you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/cop to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

Be careful entering the elevator – If you are in a building where you must use the stairs or an elevator, be vigilant and stay focused on your surroundings. When you take and elevator do not get in if you are not sure of the occupants. Wait for an empty elevator. If someone is getting on with you and you are the least bit uncomfortable, wait and take the next car.

Don’t be sympathetic to sob stories – As human beings, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP, as it may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well-educated man, who sometimes played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp or wore a sling on his arm and asked ‘for help’ into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is how he abducted some of his victims.

Don’t investigate noises outside alone – If you are alone at night and hear something outside and are unsure of what to do, call the police and ask for help before you go outside to investigate. There could be multiple attackers out there waiting to overpower you.

Try to stay calm – Many victims end up being robbed, assaulted, or maimed because they gave in to fear. When you are afraid, you will be either slow to act or unable to act at all. So, it is very important that you keep your composure by not being afraid. (Of course, I know it’s easier said than done). Even when you are afraid (which is the case most of the time), never show it. Rather, show your attacker that you are fierce as well. This will send a warning signal and instill some fear in him.

Keep close to you attacker – Whenever you are trying to defend yourself at close quarters, keep very close to your attacker. If you are too close to him, he will find it hard to hit you. In fact, you should cling tightly to him if possible, and you would render him harmless.

Hit first-don’t wait to be hit! – Nothing can destabilize you faster during a self-defense struggle than being hit first. Similarly, nothing can boost your confidence faster than hitting your opponent first. So, act fast and attack first. If you are able to land the first blow on your attacker, then the door of escape will open widely for you.

Hit where it hurts – In order to weaken your attacker with just one or two punches or kicks, target those punches at parts of his body where he will really feel the pain. Most of the time people will protect their faces during a fight. So, don’t attempt hitting your attacker on the face, as your chances of succeeding at this are very slim. Instead, target areas such the groin, the throat, and the thigh. If your attacker’s footwear isn’t protective, a sudden trample on his toes is another great idea.

Protect yourself with your hands – As stated earlier, receiving the first hit during a fight can destabilize you – especially if it lands on a place where it hurts very badly. Always be watchful of every move your attacker might want to make. Chances are that he wants to hit you at the weak points listed above. Of course, since you are aiming at hitting him at those weak points, why not expect that he’s aiming at the same? So, keep your hands close to those weak areas to block any coming punches.

Push them to the ground – Gaining balance is not easy after being knocked off to the ground. So, always try to push your attacker to the ground, as this will give you ample chance to escape. However, if the door to escape opens, even when you have not yet pushed him to the ground, run away from that scene immediately.

Don’t ever try to win – Remember that you are not in a fight, and there is no price for the winner. Put up just enough fight to help you escape from the attack and leave the scene once you have the chance. Don’t try to show additional skills; save those for another time. As the saying goes, live to fight another day.

If you get hit, bounce back immediately – Sometimes, your attacker may be faster, and you would receive the first blow. Don’t waste time gazing at the hit spot (to check whether there is a cut) or wriggling in pain. Strive to bounce back immediately. This will send the message to your attacker that you are not giving in easily, and that you are ready for him. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to show weakness to your attacker.

Don’t try to act a movie – Forgot the movies and stick to yours simple self-defense tips. Trying hard to repeat a move by Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee could be dangerous. Thoughts of movie scenes will not help you at this stage, leave them in the movies. They’re not real, but the situation you’re in now is very real! never waste time on trying to repeat them. If you do, you will give your attacker enough time to hit you. When you are attacked, face this reality: the assailant will not position himself in such a way as to allow you to perfect your move. So, just hit anyhow. But hit well and hit the weak points.


Simple self-defense tips could save your life, and these are just a few tips that could help save you from attack, just by making you more aware of where you are and what you’re doing. But if you are attacked, be prepared, don’t panic and let your attacker see you are not going to play an easy victim! Remember your simple self-defense tips. Hit hard, and hit fast.
